One of the busiest beaches in Vancouver, especially during the hot summer months, is Kitsilano Beach. The beach looks out onto English Bay and is situated on the northern border of the Kitsilano area.
The salt-water outdoor Kitsilano Pool, run by the Vancouver Park Board and open yearly from May to September, is located near the shoreline and is the longest pool in Canada.
A playground and several beach volleyball courts may be found near the beach’s northernmost point. It is known as Xwupxpayem, which means “having red cedar” in the Squamish language.
